Job Description

We are seeking Independent Contractors for an intelligence agency to conduct comprehensive interviews with subjects, employers, associates, references, and other knowledgeable individuals. Responsibilities include reviewing records to obtain facts, resolving material issues, and establishing the background, reputation, character, suitability, or qualifications of subjects under investigation.

Independent Contractors are not employees and can accept or reject assignments. They typically work from their home offices within selected investigation territories, generally within a 100-mile radius. TDY assignments may also be available as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

1. Conduct fieldwork to gather pertinent factual information and report findings in a clear, concise, and unbiased manner through a Report of Investigation.
2. Perform face-to-face interviews with subjects, references, neighbors, coworkers, supervisors, friends, and other associates as necessary.
3. Complete record searches at employment sites, residences, law enforcement agencies, courthouses, and other repositories.
4. Work independently from home with minimal supervision.
5. Meet government and industry standards for quality, integrity, timeliness, and productivity.
6. Operate within a MS Windows environment, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, and Email.

Qualifications

• Active security clearance required.
• Experience in federal background investigations.
• Professional demeanor with adaptability to change.
• Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent problem-solving, time management, organization, scheduling, and prioritization skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a favorable driving record and reliable transportation; sufficient motor vehicle insurance.
• Intermediate or higher typing speed (40+ WPM) and computer skills.
