Responsibilities

PLEASE NOTE: This is a 1099 Contractor position which does not include benefits. Pay is based on work tasks and activities performed.

Peraton's Risk Decision Group has supported federal background investigation services for over 20 years, supporting numerous government agencies. We are seeking experienced and credentialed independent contractors who demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and a focus on national security.

What you'll do:

Conduct background investigations, including reviewing information, interviewing contacts, gathering documents, and providing summaries to government clients.

The Investigator's responsibilities include:

• Conducting background checks for employment suitability related to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.
• Supporting the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and other contracts based on performance and need.
• Performing face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family.
• Performing record searches at various agencies and institutions.
• Reporting findings clearly and concisely using government systems.
• Traveling locally and occasionally outside the primary work area (15-20% of the week).
• Participating in temporary duty assignments several times per year (14-30 days).

Qualifications

Required:

• Experience conducting federal background investigations within the last 18 months.
• Alternatively, 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree.
• Active favorable TS clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.
• High confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
• Proven metrics in quality, timeliness, and productivity.
• Intermediate typing skills (40+ WPM) and computer proficiency.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone, with high accuracy in recording information.
• Good vision and focus for computer work.
• Ability to write extensively, attend punctually, pay attention to details, and interact professionally.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to carry insurance.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
