Job Description

Independent Contractors on the PAPERPROOF program will conduct comprehensive interviews with subjects, employers, associates, references, and other knowledgeable individuals, reviewing records to resolve material issues or establish background, reputation, character, suitability, or qualifications of the subject under investigation.

Independent Contractors are not employees and may accept or reject assignments. They typically work from their home offices within selected investigation territories. Assignments are generally within a 100-mile radius, with possible TDY assignments as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

1. Conduct fieldwork to gather pertinent factual information and report it in a clear, unbiased Report of Investigation.
2. Conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, references, neighbors, coworkers, supervisors, friends, and other associates as necessary.
3. Complete record searches at employment locations, residences, law enforcement agencies, courthouses, and other record repositories.
4. Work independently from home with minimal supervision.
5. Meet government and industry standards for quality, integrity, timeliness, and productivity.
6. Operate within a MS Windows environment, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Internet, and Email.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of relevant work experience (military, law enforcement, etc.) within the last 5 years, plus 1 year of specialized Federal background investigative experience.
• Currently possess a Top-Secret Clearance.
• Professional demeanor with adaptability to change.
• Strong writing and communication skills, with ability to establish rapport quickly.
• Excellent problem-solving, time management, organization, scheduling, and prioritization skills.
• Valid driver's license, favorable driver history, reliable transportation, and sufficient motor vehicle insurance.
• Intermediate or better typing skills (40+ WPM) and computer skills.
