Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Supply Chain Clerk to place and expedite orders across the department. You will enter Shopping Guide orders into the automated Materiel Management System and coordinate deliveries to meet safety stock levels.

Responsibilities include expediting overdue items, resolving vendor invoice issues, and assisting staff with STAT orders. You will monitor open orders and ensure on-time fulfillment, collaborating with vendors and internal teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• May require up to 1 year of technical or other specialized training such as office procedures and processes.

• Data enters Shopping Guide Orders into the automated Materiel Management System.
• Expedites orders for items below Safety Stock by contacting vendors for fastest delivery.
• Researches problems on invoices for vendors and WHC; communicates findings to staff.
• Collaborates with staff on products on back order and status of orders.
• Assists staff with processing STAT orders.
• Reviews open order status and expedites per due date.

General Summary of Position

Places and expedites orders in assigned Department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Places orders for supplies (by telephone fax mail or on-line) as directed by management.
• Data enters Shopping Guide Orders into the automated Materiel Management System.
• Expedites orders for items that are below Safety Stock (close to running out or are out) by contacting vendor and arranging for the quickest possible delivery.
• Researches problems on invoices for both vendor and WHC; takes information gathered to the appropriate staff member.
• Works with appropriate staff member on products that are on back order.
• Assists staff members with the processing of STAT orders.
• Reviews the open order status and expedites per due date.

Minimal Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required
• May require up to l year of technical or other specialized training such as training in office procedures and processes.

Experience

• 1 to 3 years experience such as experience in expediting purchases and/or in an office using a terminal or pc required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Requires the ability to read and write; and knowledge of grammar and arithmetic including fractions and decimals.
• May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e. typewriter personal computer data terminal on-line printer calculator telephone facsimile copier sterilizing equipment blood pressure cuff or tables); the preparation comparison or checking of reports records and related data; and basic use of formulas charts tables drawings and knowledge of their application.
