Job summary

Lindblad Expeditions, LLC. is seeking a Chief Mate to supervise the deck team and assist with piloting, navigation, safety, and security on a world-class expedition vessel.

The Chief Mate will lead a crew of deckhands and boatswain, maintain vessel readiness for USCG inspections, and coordinate with other departments during docking and operations. A strong background in marine navigation, safety, and guest service is essential.

Qualifications

• USCG Mate 500 GRT / 3,000 GT ITC Near Coastal endorsement required.
• OICNW STCW endorsement required.
• ARPA and ECDIS proficiency.
• GMDSS and BST/BST required.
• VSO certification and AFF recommended; medical readiness.
• Proficiency with MS Windows and navigation logs.

Responsibilities

• Assumes command aboard vessel when Captain is unavailable.
• Act as Security, Safety and Medical Officer as assigned.
• Inspect vessel cleanliness and readiness for USCG inspections.
• Prepare for coast guard dry docks and COI inspections.
• Oversee flight/guest relations during docking and operations.
• Direct deck operations, training and performance reviews.
• Maintain deck inventories and safety equipment; ensure drills.
