Aspen Dental in Smyrna, TN is seeking an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our team. The role supports doctors and hygienists, handles patient flow, sterilization, radiographs, and patient education.

Qualifications

• Current Dental Assistant license/registration/certification as required by state.
• Radiology (X-ray) certification as required by state.
• Current CPR or BLS certificate.
• 2+ years' experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Proficient at chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry.
• Demonstrate proper sterilization and infection control techniques.
• Maintain annual CE requirement as specified by state.
• State Certification in expanded functions as required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assist with directing DA office team to maintain productive patient flow.
• Assist the doctors during a variety of treatment procedures.
• Breakdown operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists.
• Complete sterilization processes for equipment and operatory and ensures all staff is properly trained and compliant on the process.
• Follow maintenance schedules for flushing waterlines/suction lines, autoclave, and compressor daily/weekly/monthly.
• Tray and operatory set-up for all procedures.
• Support patient charting for doctors at a proficient level.
• Train others to execute patient handoffs and monitor patient flow within the practice.
• Follow OSHA regulations and HIPAA guidelines.
• Take dental radiographs (X-rays).
• Provide patients with instructions for oral care following procedures.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health.
• Complete denture relines and temporary crowns.
• Monitor and aid in management of laboratory cases.
• Perform quality intraoral health scans (<5 minutes).
• Understand clear aligner process and teach.
