Job summary

Schererville Family Dentistry in Indiana is seeking an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join a patient-focused team. The role includes performing expanded clinical duties, assisting the dentist across restorative, prosthodontic, and surgical procedures, and ensuring efficient room turnover.

The practice offers a 3-day FT work week plus comprehensive benefits, FSA/HSA options, CE allowance, licensure reimbursement, and opportunities for professional growth within the P1 Dental partnership.

Qualifications

• Indiana EFDA credential required.
• Active Indiana Radiography license.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform expanded clinical duties allowed by state regulations.
• Assist the dentist during restorative, prosthodontic, and surgical procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for each patient; ensure efficient room turnover.
• Take high-quality digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions/scans.
• Fabricate temporary crowns, bridges, and provisional restorations; check bite and margins.
• Record and update patient medical histories and treatment plans in dental software.
• Educate patients on post-treatment care and proper oral hygiene.

• Tuesday 7:30am-8pm

What You’ll Do as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

• Perform expanded clinical duties allowed by state regulations, such as placing restorations, polishing, applying sealants and fluoride, taking impressions, coronal polishing, and packing/retrieving cord.
• Assist the dentist during a full range of restorative, prosthodontic, and surgical procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for each patient and ensure efficient room turnover.
• Take high-quality digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions/scans (traditional or digital).
• Fabricate temporary crowns, bridges, and provisional restorations while checking bite, margins and contacts
• Performing caries susceptibility testing,
• Mix and prepare dental materials (cements, bonding agents, composites, impression materials).
• Record and update patient medical histories and treatment plans in dental software.
• Anticipate the dentist’s needs and provide instruments and materials during procedures.
• Educate patients on post-treatment care and proper oral hygiene.
