Job summary

Schererville Family Dentistry is hiring an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join a patient-focused team in Indiana. You will perform expanded clinical duties, assist with a wide range of procedures, and help maintain efficient, comfortable patient flow.

Ideal candidates hold an Indiana EFDA certificate, an active Indiana radiographer license, and current BLS/CPR certification. This full-time role offers a 3-day work week, competitive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Perform expanded clinical duties per state regs (restorations, polish, sealants, fluoride, impressions)
• Assist the dentist during restorative, prosthodontic, and surgical procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure efficient turnover
• Take digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions (digital or traditional)
• Fabricate provisional restorations and check bite
• Record patient histories and treatment plans in dental software
• Educate patients on post-treatment care and oral hygiene

• Monday 7:30am-8pm
• Tuesday 7:30am-8pm
• Thursday 9:30am-8pm

Qualifications

• Indiana EFDA certificate
• Indiana Radiographers license active
• Current BLS/CPR certification

What You’ll Do as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

• Perform expanded clinical duties allowed by state regulations, such as placing restorations, polishing, applying sealants and fluoride, taking impressions, coronal polishing, and packing/retrieving cord.
• Assist the dentist during a full range of restorative, prosthodontic, and surgical procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for each patient and ensure efficient room turnover.
• Take high-quality digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions/scans (traditional or digital).
• Fabricate temporary crowns, bridges, and provisional restorations while checking bite, margins and contacts
• Performing caries susceptibility testing,
• Mix and prepare dental materials (cements, bonding agents, composites, impression materials).

• Record and update patient medical histories and treatment plans in dental software.
• Anticipate the dentist’s needs and provide instruments and materials during procedures.
• Educate patients on post-treatment care and proper oral hygiene.
