Indian Health Service is seeking an experienced Expanded Function Dental Assistant to support chairside care, radiography, infection control, and patient education. The role focuses on delivering high-quality care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities while maintaining accurate records.

The position requires radiographic certification, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to perform a range of intra-oral procedures under supervision.

Qualifications

• GS-05 requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 performing chairside duties, sealants, prophylaxis, and related tasks.
• GS-06 requires at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 including expanded functions, x-rays, polishing, sealant application, and restorative procedures under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Restores teeth after preparation.
• Provides chairside assisting and anticipates dentist's needs; prepares materials and equipment.
• Performs intra-oral procedures such as prophylaxis, sealants, temporary restorations, and stainless steel crowns.
• Performs radiological procedures and dental lab tasks: pours models, trays, bite rims, mounts casts, and final impressions.
• Receives and prepares patients; maintains appointment and treatment records.
