Job summary

UW Health Science Drive Medical Center in Madison, WI seeks an Exercise Specialist Supervisor to oversee daily operations of the fitness center and supervise staff scheduling. You will evaluate and develop exercise programs for healthy and at-risk participants and collaborate with hospital departments to support patient care.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology or related field (Master’s preferred), plus 2 years in a large fitness center and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or related field is required.
• Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or related field is preferred.
• 2 years of experience in a large community/hospital based fitness center is required.
• Experience with at risk populations (hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, bariatrics, orthopedic, and/or neurological issues) is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the center including developing the daily staff schedule.
• Evaluate and develop exercise programs for participants who are healthy and at risk.
• Work with all other facility departments to collaborate within the Fitness Center and other shared spaces.
• Demonstrate knowledge of proper exercise guidelines for low, moderate and high risk populations and modify exercise prescriptions accordingly.
• Provide premium customer service to members using the facility.
