Occidental College’s Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology, beginning Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach core courses (KINE 304 and KINE 305) and other major courses (KINE 104, KINE 220, KINE 490), and develop an undergraduate research program that involves students in authentic experiences.

Qualifications

• PhD in Kinesiology by start date with ability to teach KINE 304, KINE 305, KINE 104, KINE 220, KINE 490
• Commitment to high-impact undergraduate teaching
• Commitment to working with students from minoritized and marginalized groups
• Develop and sustain a research program involving undergraduate students
• Ability to integrate undergraduates into research and mentor research students
• Interest in community-based engagement
• Ability to balance teaching, scholarship, and service

Responsibilities

• Teach core courses KINE 304 and KINE 305 and select major courses.
• Develop and sustain a faculty-mentored undergraduate research program.
• Mentor undergraduate researchers and participate in Occidental's Summer Research Program.
• Collaborate with public health and epidemiology and engage in community-based courses.
• Advise students and participate in department and college service.
