We seek a scholar–educator committed to inclusive, student-centered teaching and undergraduate research who can integrate physiological principles with applied, population-based, or community-engaged perspectives. Finally, the new hire will participate in the life and development of the department, advise students, and serve on broader college-wide committees.

The Department of Kinesiology at Occidental College is committed to advancing the scientific study of human movement, health, and performance through evidence-based teaching, collaborative research, and interdisciplinary inquiry. Our curriculum emphasizes the core scientific foundations of kinesiology—including exercise physiology, biomechanics, and motor behavior—in order to prepare students to analyze human movement, critically evaluate scientific evidence, communicate research effectively, and apply evidence-based solutions to improve health, performance, and injury prevention. As a liberal arts program, we partner extensively with departments across the College, including Public Health, Psychology and Sociology, providing students with interdisciplinary learning opportunities that enrich their understanding of movement and health. Through the Occidental Kinesiology Research Group (OxyKRG), students engage in authentic, faculty-mentored research, taking on progressively greater leadership in study design, data collection, analysis, scientific communication, and dissemination. Graduates pursue careers and advanced study in physical therapy, medicine, athletic training, public health, research, and other health and movement science professions. Our faculty are committed teacher-scholars who integrate discovery into the classroom and laboratory, maintain active programs of scholarship, contribute meaningful service to the College and the profession, and embrace Occidental's tradition of shared governance and collaborative academic excellence.

Located within the vibrant city of Los Angeles, Occidental College is committed to a community-engaged curriculum—faculty build fieldwork, visits to local museums and cultural organizations, and long-standing partnerships into their courses. Occidental is also committed to undergraduate research, regularly mentoring KIstudents in Occidental’s hallmark summer research program.
