Job summary

Occidental College’s Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology to begin Fall 2027.

The successful candidate will teach core courses (Exercise Physiology KINE 305 and Human Physiology KINE 304) and other major courses, and will develop a research program that engages undergraduate students and involves collaboration with public health and community-based projects.

Qualifications

• PhD in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology; PhD must be by Aug 16, 2027.
• Ability to teach KINE 304, KINE 305, KINE 104, KINE 220, KINE 490.
• Commitment to high-impact undergraduate teaching.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with students from minoritized and marginalized groups.
• Ability to develop and sustain a research program engaging undergraduates.
• Commitment to involve undergraduates in research and to mentor students.

Responsibilities

• Teach core courses such as Exercise Physiology and Human Physiology.
• Develop and sustain a research program with undergraduate involvement.
• Mentor undergraduate researchers and participate in Summer Research Program.
• Advise students and participate in departmental and college committees.
• Explore community-based engagement opportunities and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
