Job description

Job Summary

The Department of Agricultural and Life Sciences welcomes applications for a 9‑month appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Tenure Track. Appointment is set to begin August 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Faculty typically teach 12 credit hours per semester (undergraduate), including entry‑level as well as upper‑level courses in their specialty area.
  • Faculty are expected to contribute to the program, department, university, and profession through appropriate service obligations, including advising students and committee service.
  • Teach undergraduate exercise science courses as assigned.
  • Work with community partners to set up sites for students’ clinical experiences.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Evaluate and grade students’ class/lab work, assignments, and papers.
  • Collect and analyze data for program and university assessment.
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
  • Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
  • Advise students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues.
  • Develop and use multimedia course materials and other current technology, such as online courses.
  • Perform administrative duties as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching issues.
  • Assist department chair with continual program development.
  • Participate in unit meetings and other university‑wide activities/committees.
  • Other duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum of a Ph.D. in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, athletic training, or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience working with culturally diverse populations is a plus.
  • Ability to cope effectively with adversity and demonstrate leadership skills that promote collegiality and cooperation.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with teaching experience are preferred.
