Job summary

Novant Health's Scotts Hill Medical Center in Wilmington, NC seeks a full-time Exercise Physiologist to lead patients in all disciplines of Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation, following current policies and procedures with emphasis on cardiac and pulmonary health as it relates to exercise.

You will formulate and modify exercise prescriptions based on medical history and special needs; collaborate with nurses and physicians; schedule Monday–Friday 7a-3p; no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree required. BS in Exercise Physiology or exercise related field required.
• Experience: 1 year rehab experience as an Exercise Physiologist, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Progressing toward ACSM exercise related certification within 1 year, required.
• Additional Skills: Knowledge of cardiac & respiratory care, data interpretation, team collaboration, and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead patients in all disciplines of Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

• Supervise and monitor patients during exercise with RN/physician collaboration.

What We Offer

Scotts Hill Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Exercise Physiologist to lead patients in all disciplines of Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation in accordance with current cardiac and pulmonary policies and procedures with an emphasis on cardiac and pulmonary health as it relates to exercise. Formulate and modify exercise prescriptions for new Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation participants based on medical history and special needs.

Schedule: M-F mostly 7a-3p; No weekends or holidays.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. BS in Exercise Physiology or exercise related field, required.
• Experience: 1 year of rehabilitation experience as an Exercise Physiologist, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification:Progressing toward a ACSM exercise related certification within 1 yr (Certification Agreement signed upon hire), required.
• Additional Skills Preferred:
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of all phases of routine and critical cardiac and respiratory care, with an emphasis on adult, chronic disease management.
  • Abilities to perform decisively in critical situations and to incorporate many types of data.
  • Has the knowledge, skills and ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.
  • Has the ability to supervise exercise, monitor patients during exercise, and modify exercise prescriptions for cardio-pulmonary patients, in conjunction with registered nurses and/or physician as needed.
  • Has effective communication and interpersonal skills to relate to patients, families, nurses, physicians and other department and hospital staff.
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
