Job summary

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Exercise Physiologist for an outpatient, Monday–Friday role with no weekends. You will work primarily in the wellness program for patients after Cardio-Pulmonary rehabilitation to maintain or increase fitness, and may cover cardio-pulmonary rehab as needed.

• Graduate degree required.
• Master’s in Exercise and Sports Science or Exercise Physiology required.
• Minimum of one year hospital/clinic/rehabilitation experience as an Exercise Physiologist preferred.
• ACSM Certification in Clinical Exercise Physiology within 6 months of hire required.
• Knowledge of cardiac and respiratory care, chronic disease management.

What We Offer

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation team is hiring a full-time Clinical Exercise Physiologist. This role is in an outpatient setting, working Monday - Friday with no weekends. Clinical Exercise Physiologists with Cardio-Pulmonary experience are encouraged to apply, but this is not a requirement for the role.

What You’ll Do

• primarily work in the wellness program, which is designed for patients who have completed Cardio-Pulmonary rehabilitation and are looking to maintain or increase their fitness level
• may cover in Cardio-Pulmonary rehab as needed
• work with patients in groups as the attend the gym during the day
• provide supervision for exercises and take vital signs
• formulate and modify exercise prescriptions for rehabilitation participants based on medical history and special needs
• lead group aerobic classes 2-3 per week

What We’re Looking For

• Education:
  • Graduate Degree, required.
  • Master’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science or Exercise Physiology, required.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of one year hospital, clinic, or rehabilitation experience as an Exercise Physiologist, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • ACSM Certification in Clinical Exercise Physiology within 6 months of hire (Certification Agreement signed upon hire), required.
• Additional Skills Required:
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of all phases of routine and critical cardiac and respiratory care, with an emphasis on adult, chronic disease management.
  • Abilities to perform decisively in critical situations and to incorporate many types of data.
  • Has the knowledge, skills and ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.
  • Has the ability to supervise exercise, monitor patients during exercise, and modify exercise prescriptions for cardio-pulmonary patients, in conjunction with registered nurses and/or physician as needed.
  • Has effective communication and interpersonal skills to relate to patients, families, nurses, physicians and other department and hospital staff.
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
