Job summary

Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott seeks an Exercise Physiologist to deliver direct, safe, evidence-based care in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation. You will create individualized exercise prescriptions, orient patients to equipment, and perform functional assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will document clinical data, monitor sessions, educate patients and families, and collaborate with physicians to adjust treatment plans while upholding safety and infection control

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology or related degree.
• Experience with computer-oriented monitoring and charting for Cardiac Rehab.
• ACLS within 6 months
• Basic Life Support - CPR (AHA BLS)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel

Responsibilities

• Perform initial participant assessments and contribute to plan of care with the team.
• Supervise exercise sessions and monitor participant responses.
• Conduct BP checks pre, during, and post exercise; watch telemetry for abnormal responses.
• Refer participants and make recommendations to staff/Medical Director as needed.
• Report significant conditions to supervising physician and assist with emergency care per ACLS protocol.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Exercise Physiologist, you will provide direct, safe, and best-practice driven care primarily in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, collaborating extensively with a multi-disciplinary team, cardiologists, and various hospital staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Every day you will establish and update individualized exercise prescriptions, orient patients to equipment and safety protocols, and conduct functional fitness testing and body composition analysis. You will be expected to provide essential patient and family education, supervise and monitor exercise sessions, meticulously document and maintain current clinical data and program records, adjusting treatment plans as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a deep understanding of patient needs, consistently working collaboratively in a diverse and multicultural environment. You will effectively partner with physicians and clinical staff in goal-setting, consistently utilizing work practices aligned with safety, security, and infection control policies, all while actively contributing to a positive quality work environment.

• Responsible for the initial assessment of the participant and assists in the development of the plan of care with other staff members.
• Supervises exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.
• Responsible for blood pressure checks on all participants pre, during, and post exercise while observing for any abnormal responses on the telemetry device.
• Assesses participants pre, during, and post exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to the participant, other staff, and Medical Director.
• Reports any significant participant conditions (dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, change in participant's status, etc.) to the physician supervising the program immediately.
• Assists the Clinical Nurse in providing emergency care, using ACLS protocol and/or emergency care according to hospital policy.

Required

• Bachelors Of Science Exercise Physiology or Health & Human Performance or related degree
• Experience with computer-oriented monitoring and charting for Cardiac Rehab
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS) within 6 months
• Basic Life Support - CPR, (AHA BLS)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel

Preferred

• Master's Degree and One (1) year of health related experience
