Job summary

Dignity Health – Yavapai Regional Medical Center (DH-YRMC) invites an Exercise Physiologist to lead cardiac/pulmonary rehab programs, develop individualized exercise prescriptions, and educate patients and families. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and therapists to deliver safe, evidence-based care in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology or Health & Human Performance or related field.
• Experience with computer-oriented monitoring and charting for Cardiac Rehab.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• BLS/CPR certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial participant assessment and assist in developing the plan of care.
• Supervise exercise sessions and monitor for unsafe responses to exercise.
• Perform blood pressure checks pre/during/post exercise and monitor telemetry.
• Refer and coordinate referrals to participants and staff as needed.
• Notify supervisor immediately of significant participant conditions.
• Assist in emergency care per ACLS protocol and hospital policy.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Exercise Physiologist, you will provide direct, safe, and best-practice driven care primarily in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, collaborating extensively with a multi-disciplinary team, cardiologists, and various hospital staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Every day you will establish and update individualized exercise prescriptions, orient patients to equipment and safety protocols, and conduct functional fitness testing and body composition analysis. You will be expected to provide essential patient and family education, supervise and monitor exercise sessions, meticulously document and maintain current clinical data and program records, adjusting treatment plans as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a deep understanding of patient needs, consistently working collaboratively in a diverse and multicultural environment. You will effectively partner with physicians and clinical staff in goal-setting, consistently utilizing work practices aligned with safety, security, and infection control policies, all while actively contributing to a positive quality work environment.

• Responsible for the initial assessment of the participant and assists in the development of the plan of care with other staff members.
• Supervises exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.
• Responsible for blood pressure checks on all participants pre, during, and post exercise while observing for any abnormal responses on the telemetry device.
• Assesses participants pre, during, and post exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to the participant, other staff, and Medical Director.
• Reports any significant participant conditions (dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, change in participant's status, etc.) to the physician supervising the program immediately.
• Assists the Clinical Nurse in providing emergency care, using ACLS protocol and/or emergency care according to hospital policy.

Job Requirements

Required

• Bachelors Of Science Exercise Physiology or Health & Human Performance or related degree
• Experience with computer-oriented monitoring and charting for Cardiac Rehab
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS) within 6 months
• Basic Life Support - CPR, (AHA BLS)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel

Preferred

• Master's Degree and One (1) year of health related experience
