Job summary

Dignity Health – Yavapai Regional Medical Center (DH-YRMC) in Prescott, AZ seeks an Exercise Physiologist to lead cardiac and pulmonary rehab care. You will craft individualized exercise prescriptions, orient patients to equipment, and document clinical data to support patient outcomes.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, perform safety checks, and contribute to a quality, infection-controlled care environment while guiding patients and families through rehabilitation journeys.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field.
• Experience with computer-based monitoring and charting in Cardiac Rehab.
• ACLS certification within 6 months; CPR/BLS training; proficient with Word & Excel.

Responsibilities

• Initial participant assessment and care plan development with the team.
• Supervise exercise sessions and monitor responses.
• Perform pre/during/post-exercise BP checks and monitor telemetry.
• Refer participants to physicians/medical staff as needed.
• Assist with emergency care using ACLS protocols per policy.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Exercise Physiologist, you will provide direct, safe, and best-practice driven care primarily in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, collaborating extensively with a multi-disciplinary team, cardiologists, and various hospital staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Every day you will establish and update individualized exercise prescriptions, orient patients to equipment and safety protocols, and conduct functional fitness testing and body composition analysis. You will be expected to provide essential patient and family education, supervise and monitor exercise sessions, meticulously document and maintain current clinical data and program records, adjusting treatment plans as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a deep understanding of patient needs, consistently working collaboratively in a diverse and multicultural environment. You will effectively partner with physicians and clinical staff in goal-setting, consistently utilizing work practices aligned with safety, security, and infection control policies, all while actively contributing to a positive quality work environment.

• Responsible for the initial assessment of the participant and assists in the development of the plan of care with other staff members.


• Supervises exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.


• Responsible for blood pressure checks on all participants pre, during, and post exercise while observing for any abnormal responses on the telemetry device.


• Assesses participants pre, during, and post exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to the participant, other staff, and Medical Director.


• Reports any significant participant conditions (dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, change in participant's status, etc.) to the physician supervising the program immediately.


• Assists the Clinical Nurse in providing emergency care, using ACLS protocol and/or emergency care according to hospital policy.

Job Requirements

Required

• Bachelors Of Science Exercise Physiology or Health & Human Performance or related degree


• Experience with computer-oriented monitoring and charting for Cardiac Rehab


• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS) within 6 months


• Basic Life Support - CPR, (AHA BLS)


• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel

Preferred

• Master's Degree and One (1) year of health related experience
