Qualifications

Schedule Details/Additional Information:

Mon-Fri 8am - 5pm

Main Site: 1221 N. Highland Ave - will also go to 1508 Aurora Ave. Naperville

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Assure appropriate, safe, and effective stress testing.
  2. Comply with policies and procedures of the cardio diagnostic department.
  3. Assist in performing initial patient interviews and evaluations, decide on the appropriate stress test, and communicate with physicians.
  4. Have knowledge of the progression of heart disease in adult cardiac patients.
  5. Maintain patient confidentiality.
  6. Promote patient safety by reporting issues and participating in safety initiatives.
  7. Conduct Exercise stress and CPX testing.
  8. Develop and update informational handouts for groups and individuals based on research.
  9. Follow exercise protocols for each stress test and communicate needed changes to physicians.
  10. Monitor patients during exercise for ECG changes, dysrhythmias, ischemic patterns, and injuries; know emergency procedures.
  11. Communicate pertinent patient information to physicians.
  12. Provide a safe environment for exercise testing.
  13. Assist in the proper use of equipment and supplies.
  14. Demonstrate teaching strategies with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  15. Assist patients in learning to perform exercise tests safely.
  16. Perform CPR and emergency procedures as per protocol.
  17. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  18. Participate in professional development and contribute to clinical excellence.
  19. Attend in-services and continuing education.
  20. Identify opportunities for improvement.
  21. Contribute to educational material development and staff education.
  22. Handle administrative tasks such as reviewing orders, preparing billing vouchers, and managing equipment and supplies.

Education/Experience Required:

  • M.S. in Exercise Physiology or related field.
  • Knowledge of cardiac monitor detection and intervention.
  • 12 lead ECG interpretation.
  • Experience with various age groups preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Familiarity with cardiac monitors.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Willingness to stay current with new concepts.
  • Assertiveness and optimism.
  • Ability to suggest improvements.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Lifting Requirement:

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; use patient handling equipment for heavier lifts.

Pay Range:

$24.85 - $37.30
