Qualifications

Job Description
The Exercise Physiologist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
In collaboration with physicians and dieticians, develops and implements exercise prescriptions, evaluates patient parameters, and manages health risks. Provides exercise and lifestyle counseling and educates patients on exercise’s role in disease management and lifestyle medicine.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with physicians to set objectives based on medical history, physical limitations, and fitness levels.
  2. Assess patient motivation and readiness to change.
  3. Identify appropriate physical activity, exercise, and behavioral interventions.
  4. Develop and implement exercise plans.
  5. Conduct hands-on training, demonstrate proper exercise form, and lead personalized workouts.
  6. Educate patients on exercise’s role in managing chronic diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, cancer, and depression.
  7. Provide ongoing consultation and evaluate intervention effectiveness.
  8. Create and update educational materials, including newsletters, online programs, and apps about exercise.
  9. Identify key issues and trends, communicate with the healthcare team, and participate in staff training.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a clinical outpatient setting.

Preferred:

  • Certifications such as ACSM or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist/Exercise Specialist.
