Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Senior Vice President of Cardiac Surgical Services to lead the system's cardiac surgery programs, drive clinical excellence, and advance value-based care across tertiary centers and community hospitals.

The SVP will set strategic direction, ensure high-quality outcomes, and collaborate with cardiology, transplant, and academic leaders to strengthen RWJBH's cardiovascular portfolio.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school and board certification in cardiothoracic surgery.
• Medical licensure in New Jersey or eligibility required.
• At least 15 years of active cardiac surgery experience, with 10+ years in leadership roles.
• MBA/MHA or healthcare management degree is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide cardiac surgery strategy with hospital and physician leaders.
• Partner with cardiology, heart failure, vascular, transplant, and academics to expand access.
• Review clinical, operational, and financial data to drive improvements and quality metrics.
• Mentor and develop the next generation of cardiac surgeons and physician leaders.
• Optimize OR efficiency, throughput, and resource utilization across the system.
• Advance research, new technologies, and education to strengthen national reputation.
