EC1 Executive is the retained executive search division of EC1 Partners, focused on placing senior leadership and C-Level talent into the world’s most innovative FinTech and Financial Services companies. Trusted by founders, boards, and investors, we operate at the intersection of growth, leadership, and transformation—executing high-impact searches that shape the future of the industry.

The Opportunity

We’re looking to hire an Executive Search Principal who can independently lead complex, senior-level searches from start to finish. You’ll work directly with the Managing Partner and CEO, both of whom generate significant inbound business. While there’s room to take on business development, this role is primarily focused on delivery—and we’re seeking someone who can operate with autonomy, credibility, and precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of retained executive search mandates from kickoff to close
  • Understand the brief and align on client expectations, stakeholder priorities, and search strategy
  • Build and manage candidate pipelines for C-level and senior leadership roles
  • Lead candidate outreach and qualification (with support from internal team members)
  • Pitch longlisted and shortlisted candidates to clients—often Founders, CEOs, and PE/VC Partners
  • Manage the candidate experience from initial conversation through final offer (in collaboration with our Head of Research and Principal Consultant)
  • Lead offer and compensation negotiations on both sides, navigating sensitivities, leverage, and closing strategy
  • Maintain rigorous process management and communication to ensure high-quality outcomes

What We're Looking For

  • 7–10 years of recruitment experience, including 5+ years in executive search
  • Proven track record of independently delivering senior or C-level searches
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to speak credibly in front of senior clients and investor audiences
  • Deep understanding of—or strong interest in—FinTech, Financial Services, or Private Equity-backed businesses
  • Comfortable managing multiple processes concurrently with a high degree of precision
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative by nature

  • Interest in taking on business development (optional, not required)
