Job summary

Mosaic Public Partners is seeking an experienced Public Works Director for Arapahoe County, Colorado. This executive will lead a multi-division Public Works Department, directing operations, budgeting, and capital planning while engaging with elected officials and the community.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong strategic vision, with substantial leadership in public works, governance, and complex infrastructure programs, ensuring safe, efficient, and responsive public services.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, public administration, business administration, construction management, or related field with leadership in public works or related areas.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant and progressive experience in public works, infrastructure, transportation, engineering, development, or a comparable complex organization with leadership.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory/management experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Preferred: PE registration and significant public-sector executive leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide departmental leadership and direction for a large public works organization.
• Oversee departmental planning, oversight, and division support.
• Evaluate service delivery and engage with the public and stakeholders to ensure responsive service.
• Manage budget oversight and capital planning coordination.
• Ensure safety management and continuous departmental improvement.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, public administration, business administration, construction management, or related field

PE registration (Professional Engineer) – preferred
