Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services partners with a fast-growing excavation contractor in Central Indiana to hire a Vice President of Project Management. Based in Carmel, IN, the role will lead the project management function for underground site work and report to the COO.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in excavation/underground construction, a bachelor's in Construction Management, and a track record of building high-performing teams while guiding project delivery, safety, and cost controls.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in excavation/underground site work project management.
• Proven ability to lead and grow a project management team.
• Strong cost control, scheduling, and QA/QC focus.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of Project Managers and Project Engineers with clear growth paths.
• Set and champion PM standards, processes, and best practices across projects.
• Oversee portfolio-level cost, schedule, and scope with accountability to leadership.
• Manage client and stakeholder relationships at a senior level and represent the company at key meetings.
• Collaborate with COO and estimating on staffing, resources, and project handoffs.
• Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across all projects.
