Job summary

RAND Center on AI, Security, and Technology (CAST) seeks an Executive Operations Manager to support the Director and CAST leadership. This high-ownership role serves as a connective hub across RAND, coordinating complex agendas, travel, and board preparations.

You will help manage quarterly reviews, strategic meetings, and high-priority initiatives for AI and national security policy. Ideal candidates bring at least 2 years in research, government, or think tanks, with exceptional organization,

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in research organizations, philanthropy, government, or related fields.
• Strong attention to detail and superb organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize independently, and work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree required; PMP can substitute; security clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the Director's complex agenda and daily flow with administrative support.
• Manage travel flow for roughly two trips per month with a coordinating assistant.
• Conduct quarterly calendar reviews to delegate meetings and reallocate time.
• Support RAND-wide processes including review cycles, quarterly reporting, and board prep.
• Build and maintain a CRM of the Director's professional network across government, industry, and AI security ecosystems.
• Assist senior technical leads on select special projects.
• Handle ad hoc requests arising from high-stakes work.
• Draft communications and meeting prep as needed.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of CAST’s San Francisco office.
