Job summary

Our client, a prominent international mining group, seeks a Mine Operations Manager to lead surface mining near Upington, Northern Cape. The role covers production, safety, environmental compliance and cost control in a large-scale open-pit operation.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in progressive mining management, including 5+ years in senior leadership, with strong planning, budgeting and regulatory experience. Relocation may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mining Engineering or related field.
• MBA or Master's degree advantageous.
• 10+ years of progressive management experience in open-pit mining, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven success in managing large-scale surface mining operations and achieving targets.
• In-depth knowledge of mining methods, equipment, and open-pit technologies.
• Strong mine safety knowledge and environmental regulations.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
• Strong budgeting and financial acumen.
• Willingness to reside/work near Upington, Northern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily surface mining operations, ensure production targets are met safely and efficiently.
• Develop and implement strategic operational plans aligned with company objectives.

• Represent the company with stakeholders and regulators.
