Job summary

The Florida Department of Health seeks a Chief of Natural Sciences to provide executive leadership for Florida's statewide Radiation Control Program. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams responsible for regulating radioactive materials, x-ray equipment, radiologic technologist education, and environmental monitoring.

The role emphasizes supervisory oversight, strategic budgeting, policy development, interagency coordination with NRC, FDA, EPA, and state partners, and ensuring program

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of program management experience and 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Preferred 5 years of radiological health or health physics experience; Bachelor's degree as listed.
  • Travel time 1-25%.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for statewide Radiation Control Program with 94 employees.
  • Direct radiation control programs including regulation of radioactive materials and x-ray equipment.
  • Coordinate radiologic emergency response and environmental monitoring.
  • Develop budgets, policy, and program modernization; QA/QC systems.
  • Oversee staff development, performance reviews, and timekeeping.
