Job summary

Big Hairy Dog Information Systems in Rancho Cordova is seeking an experienced Help Desk Technical Support Specialist. You will deliver exceptional customer service and provide technical support for POS software, including Retail Pro.

Big Hairy Dog is a leading point‑of‑sale (POS) software distributor, supplier and support company looking for an experienced help desk technical support specialist. The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service and providing technical support for POS software such as Retail Pro and Quickbooks POS.

Responsibilities

• Provide telephone and onsite application support for POS software.
• Support multi‑site, multi‑network server/workstation environments and all Microsoft operating systems.
• Perform inventory control, point‑of‑sale and retail operations tasks.
• Use SQL knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues.
• Coordinate with sales, technical, shipping and admin departments to schedule orders and appointments.
• Communicate with customers via phone, email and in‑person to explain technical information, conduct training, and resolve escalated issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation, lesson plans and training materials.
• Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer technology terminology.
• Assist with hardware testing, shipping, and UPS/FedEx logistics.

Qualifications

• At least 2–4 years of experience in similar help desk or customer support roles.
• Experience supporting POS software, inventory management or retail operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and SQL.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build instructional documentation and adapt training to customers.
• Strong organizational skills, detail‑oriented and capable of multitasking.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Typing speed of 35 words per minute or higher.
