Placements24 is seeking a seasoned General Counsel to lead its legal department in Kimberley. This senior executive role oversees corporate governance, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and risk management, reporting to the Board and senior management.

You will guide strategy, manage in-house counsel and external advisers, negotiate major agreements, and shape policy across diverse sectors. A law degree (LLB) and SA High Court admission are required, with 10+ years of leadership

Qualifications

• LLB or equivalent qualification.
• Admission as an Attorney/Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive legal experience, with senior in-house or law firm leadership.
• Broad expertise in corporate law, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience advising boards of directors and governance.
• Willingness to relocate to Kimberley, SA.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all legal activities of the company, including corporate law, commercial contracts, litigation, and compliance.
• Advise the Board of Directors and senior management on strategic legal matters and corporate governance.
• Manage and direct the in-house legal team and external counsel.
• Review and negotiate significant commercial agreements and corporate transactions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across operations.
• Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to mitigate risk.
• Oversee all litigation and dispute resolution matters.
• Manage intellectual property strategy and protection.
• Stay informed about legislative changes and industry trends.
