Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Legal Counsel focused on Compliance and Regulatory Affairs to lead the company’s regulatory program. The role is based in Welkom and involves developing robust compliance processes, advising on changes, and mitigating legal and reputational risk.

Qualifications

• LLB or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Admission as Advocate or Attorney in good standing.
• 6+ years in compliance, regulatory affairs, or corporate law.
• Strong knowledge of SA legislation and regulatory frameworks (POPIA, Companies Act).
• Experience developing and implementing compliance programs.
• Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High integrity and professional ethics.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain compliance programs and policies.
• Monitor regulatory changes and advise on impact.
• Conduct internal investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Advise on anti-bribery, AML, data privacy, and consumer protection.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external counsel on compliance matters.
• Prepare regulatory filings and reports.
• Deliver compliance training to employees.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
• Review marketing and product materials for regulatory compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of the regulatory landscape relevant to the industry.
