Job summary

University of California, Santa Barbara seeks a transitional executive director for Student Health and AVC for Integrated Care to provide strategic leadership for SHS, managing a $30+ million budget and ~100 FTE across diverse clinical and administrative areas.

The role reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Wellbeing and leads an integrated behavioral health model, coordinating with Counseling & Psychological Services and campus partners, with a two-year appointment.

Qualifications

• Must be Board Certified, and in possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Medical Board.
• Master’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration or related fields along with at least 10 years of relevant experience in a leadership or administrative role OR
• M.D., Ph.D., Psy.D. or other clinical training along with at least five years of relevant experience in healthcare administration in a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Student Health Services, driving high-quality, cost-effective care for 25,000+ students.
• Oversee daily operations through managers and senior directors across clinical and administrative disciplines, including primary care, behavioral health, psychiatry, and SHIP.
• Lead development of a strategic plan and implement a coordinated behavioral health system across Student Health Service, Counseling & Psychological Services, and campus partners.

Education

Master’s degree in Public Health or Healthcare Administration

MD/PhD/PsyD or clinical training with 5+ years leadership in healthcare administration

Board Certification (CA Medical Board)
