Job summary

Harris County Pollution Control Services Department (HCPCS) is seeking an Executive Director of Pollution Control to lead all departmental operations, set strategic direction, and ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws.

The role requires strong leadership, policy development, and collaboration with county administrators, regulatory agencies, and the public to improve environmental health outcomes for Harris County residents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related environmental field and a minimum of five years supervising staff in environmental enforcement.
• Experience delivering environmental policy, pollution control, emergency response, and regulatory programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership over HCPCS operations and staff through managers and supervisors.
• Oversee budget preparation and fiscal oversight of department funds and grants.
• Develop and implement departmental policies, strategic plans, and community monitoring programs.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
