Job summary

Harris County Pollution Control Services Department (HCPCS) is seeking an Executive Director of Pollution Control (ED) to provide strategic leadership, drive the department's mission, and ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations.

The ED will oversee program delivery, budgeting, policy development, community monitoring, and intergovernmental partnerships, reporting to the County Administrator and guiding a large professional team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related environmental field and five years of supervisory experience in enforcement or policy.
  • Master’s degree is a plus; advanced degrees may substitute for experience per policy notes.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental toxicology, policy, and regulatory issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership over PCS operations and staff to align with the department's mission and strategic plan.
  • Oversee budget preparation, grants oversight, and resource allocation to support programs.
  • Develop and advance environmental policies, community monitoring, and intergovernmental partnerships.
