Houston Parks Board Inc. is seeking a Director of Public Policy to develop and execute a policy strategy that advances our mission to expand, improve and protect parks and greenspace in the Houston region.

This role works closely with the CEO and executive team to engage with public-sector partners and translate policy wins into systemic civic impact. The director will monitor legislation, craft briefs, coordinate with city, county, and state agencies, and help shape HPB’s fundraising and public

Qualifications

• Policy landscape awareness in Houston region.
• Systemic thinking to drive public funding and policy changes.
• Ability to interpret complex interlocal agreements and budgets.
• Strong communication and collaboration to translate park needs into policy wins.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive public policy strategy to advance HPB’s mission.
• Monitor local, state, and federal legislation impacting HPB and park funding.
• Create policy briefs and analyses translating data into stakeholder narratives.
• Engage with external partners and coordinate with CEO and leadership.
• Represent HPB at public events and convene greenspace partners as needed.
