Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks an executive leader to oversee Central Classification and Inmate Records, ensuring accurate classification, housing, transfers, and sentence calculations. Travel is required as part of statewide oversight.

The role directs statewide processes, ensures compliance with laws and court requirements, and collaborates with courts, corrections institutions, and stakeholders to administer custody and records matters efficiently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and relevant program management experience.
• Knowledge of correctional classification systems, inmate housing and custody assignments, sentence administration, reentry programs, applicable laws and regulations, and development of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level leadership and oversight of classification, housing, transfers, records, sentence calculations, and related programs.
• Direct statewide classification and restrictive housing processes; oversee Central Reception and Evaluation Centers; ensure compliance with laws and policies; coordinate with courts and stakeholders.
• Provide strategic direction and supervision to classification and records staff; develop and implement policies; oversee training and performance.
• Participate in agency planning and decision-making on complex correctional matters and represent the Agency in legal proceedings as required.
• Travel is required.
