Job summary

Carter Global Power, part of Carter Machinery, seeks a Director of Field Operations and Maintenance to lead commissioning, operation, and maintenance of mobile and modular power plants using natural gas turbines and engines. Roles span data centers, utilities, oil and gas, and industrial markets.

Based in Richmond, VA, the position offers a starting compensation range of $200,000 to $240,000 plus annual bonus eligibility, plus comprehensive benefits and strong opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field (or equivalent field experience).
• Minimum 12 years of experience in power generation operations and maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with natural gas turbines and/or reciprocating engines.
• Experience managing field teams in a multi-site or mobile asset environment.
• Strong understanding of SCADA systems, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and remote monitoring tools.
• Experience with maintenance planning and tracking systems (CMMS).
• Experience with Caterpillar (CAT) equipment or working with CAT dealers.
• Experience in data center, industrial, utility, or oil and gas environments.
• Familiarity with grid-interconnected and behind-the-meter applications.
• Experience with modular or rapidly deployable power systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning, operation, and maintenance of mobile and modular power plants.
• Direct field teams and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
• Coordinate major service events with CAT Dealer and Parent Company.
• Leverage SCADA and EMS to optimize performance and uptime.
• Ensure safety and compliance across field operations.
• Promote positive customer experiences and uphold core values.
