Florida Atlantic University seeks an Executive Director of Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute to lead strategic growth, external partnerships, and research excellence. The role oversees research, operations, and budget while advancing ocean science and workforce development.

The position emphasizes fundraising, collaboration with industry and government, and building pathways for students and faculty to contribute to coastal and ocean challenges. Based at HBOI in Fort Pierce, FL.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and seven years of experience; or a bachelor's degree and nine years of experience.
• Doctoral degree in oceanography, marine science, engineering, biology, biotechnology or related field preferred.
• Experience leading large, multidisciplinary research initiatives and managing external funding.

Responsabilités

• Provide vision and leadership to advance HBOI as a world-class research institute.
• Develop and execute strategy for industry engagement and collaboration.
• Grow sponsored research and diversify funding from federal, industry, and other external sources.
• Build interdisciplinary initiatives connecting environmental and ocean science with engineering and AI.
