Job summary

MCI USA is seeking an Executive Director to lead NARPM® with vision and accountability, partnering with the Board to advance the mission and deliver member value. The role includes organizational growth, governance, and staff excellence within MCI's full-service portfolio.

The Executive Director will manage strategic plans, drive revenue growth, and ensure contract health and client satisfaction while aligning with MCI’s commercial objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; CAE preferred.
  • Progressive management experience in an association or nonprofit; prior Executive Director experience.
  • Experience managing client relations with revenue or P&L accountability within an AMC or professional services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies, objectives, programs, and initiatives aligning with the organization’s mission and plan.
  • Oversee governance, programs, and services with board committees; ensure timely reporting and risk management.
  • Drive revenue growth via sponsorships, programs, and operational efficiencies while ensuring budget goals.
  • Provide financial oversight: budgets, reporting, and program impact on the bottom line.
  • Manage staff and resources; balance client needs with contract scope and commercial objectives.
  • Support staff leadership development and cross-service collaboration across the account.

JOB OBJECTIVE

The Executive Director is the driving force behind NARPM®'s success, leading the organization with vision, innovation, and accountability. Serving as the association's chief executive, the Executive Director partners with the NARPM® Board of Directors to advance the association's mission, execute its strategic plan, and deliver exceptional value to members. This role provides leadership for organizational growth, financial performance, governance, and staff excellence.

As a senior member of the MCI USA team, the Executive Director is equally accountable for the commercial health of the NARPM® account within MCI's full-service management portfolio. The role stewards a win-win partnership in which NARPM® receives exceptional value and measurable results, and MCI earns a fair, sustainable return through disciplined scope, resource, and contract management.

A forward-thinking and results-oriented leader, the Executive Director anticipates emerging trends, identifies new opportunities, and positions NARPM® for continued growth and impact. The ideal candidate is a dynamic relationship-builder, strategic thinker, and decisive leader who inspires others and drives meaningful results.

COMPENSATION

$190,000-200,000 annually, based on relevant experience and skills.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership and Vision
  • In collaboration with the Board of Directors and staff, develop, plan, and implement strategies, objectives, programs, and initiatives that deliver on NARPM®'s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  • Regularly review the strategic plan and report progress to ensure that priorities and resources align.
  • Anticipate industry disruption and guide the organization through change using data, technology, and innovation as differentiators, without creating unnecessary disruption.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Board, providing thought leadership, industry insights, and recommendations that support informed decision-making and organizational success.
Governance, Management and Administration
  • Oversee operations, organization, communication, and administration of Board of Directors meetings.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the organization's programs and services, working with board committee chairpersons.
  • Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the organization's programs and services to maintain or improve quality.
  • Identify and evaluate risks to the organization's people (board members, members, constituents, and volunteers), finances, goodwill, and image; implement measures to control risks, including ensuring compliance and maintaining adequate insurance coverage.
  • Ensure the Board of Directors is proactively and fully informed through proper internal communications, including preparation for board meetings and established periodic management reports.
Revenue Growth and Business Development (NARPM®)
  • Drive revenue and financial performance through strategic business development, sponsorship expansion, program optimization, and operational efficiencies, ensuring achievement of budget goals and long-term organizational sustainability.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand revenue, strengthen member engagement, and enhance organizational impact through innovative programs, products, services, and business strategies.
Finance and Operations (NARPM®)
  • Establish and implement operating and financial objectives, policies, procedures, and reporting.
  • Work with staff to develop, execute, and oversee a Board-approved budget.
  • Ensure the Board of Directors receives comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditures of the organization.
  • Provide insight and recommendations on NARPM®'s programs and their impact on the budget and overall financial wellbeing.
Account Management and Commercial Stewardship (MCI)
  • Ensure a strong, profitable, and productive relationship between NARPM® and MCI USA.
  • Manage the NARPM® staff team and resources in alignment with the contracted scope of services, approved staffing model, service expectations, and financial objectives.
  • Responsible for account performance, including staffing utilization, scope alignment, client satisfaction, relationship health, and contribution to MCI USA’s target gross margin expectations.
  • Oversee potential scope changes, out-of-scope requests, service-level issues, or resource concerns early, and ensure resolution or escalation with the Client Partnership Manager and Association Solutions leadership.
  • Ensure contract health, renewal readiness, fee review, and change-order discussions by providing operational insight, account context, and recommendations
  • Champion cross-service opportunities across MCI’s business units and global capabilities that add value to NARPM® and expand MCI’s engagement.
  • Be accountable for successfully delivering NARPM®’s annualized growth metrics, as defined in the NARPM® agreement.
  • Model the win-win standard by balancing advocacy for NARPM® with accountability to MCI USA, ensuring decisions support NARPM®’s mission and MCI’s sustainable commercial interests.
  • Provide account health reporting to Association Solutions leadership on financial performance, client satisfaction, relationship risk, and growth pipeline on an established cadence and contribute to MCI USA planning cycles.
Secondary Responsibilities
Industry Leadership and Partnership Building
  • Strengthen NARPM®'s position as the national authority on best practices, standards, and professionalism in residential property management.
  • Communicate with members and stakeholders to keep them informed of the organization's work and to identify changes in the community served by the organization.
  • Establish strong working relationships and collaborative arrangements with other associations, funders, and relevant organizations to help achieve organizational goals.
Advocacy
  • Ensure advocacy initiatives support NARPM®'s role as a national authority.
  • Oversee government relations professionals who work to advance NARPM®'s policy priorities.
  • Support the Governmental Affairs Committee, PAC Trustees, and related governance bodies and staff.
  • Ensure advocacy activities are conducted within the bounds of NARPM®'s bylaws, policies, and legal obligations.
Events, Membership, Education and Certification
  • Provide executive oversight for NARPM®'s events, ensuring strong financial performance, exceptional attendee experiences, and alignment with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Provide executive oversight for NARPM®'s certification program, ensuring validity, fairness, security, and compliance.
  • Oversee the staff team in:
    • developing and executing event strategy around NARPM®'s convention, conference, summit, and other events;
    • developing and executing strategy for member recruitment, retention, and engagement;
    • developing and executing education strategy across live events, webinars, on-demand learning, microlearning, and learning pathways.
Staff Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the NARPM®-designated staff team, fostering a high-performing, engaged, and accountable culture aligned with organizational goals.
  • In partnership with MCI's People and Culture team, support talent management efforts including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance management, professional development, succession planning, and retention.
  • Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and accountability measures that drive results and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in and support a 360-degree feedback process to strengthen leadership effectiveness, team performance, and the partnership between NARPM® and MCI.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; CAE preferred.
  • Demonstrated progressive management experience in an association or non-profit organization, including experience as an Executive Director.
  • Experience managing a client relationship with revenue or P&L accountability, ideally within an Association Management Company (AMC) or professional services environment.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to inspire, influence, and represent NARPM® at the highest levels.
  • Approachable, collaborative style; can effectively lead and empower a staff team.
  • Ability to analyze and present data to inform strategic and operational decisions.
  • Association Management Company (AMC) experience is preferred.
  • Real estate or related industry association experience is preferred.
Specific Technical Skills
  • Strong technology and data fluency, ensuring the effective and efficient use of NARPM®'s systems, including AI-enabled tools, to drive member value and organizational performance.
  • Curiosity and vision in applying AI, digital innovations, and emerging technologies to strengthen association programs and services.
  • Experience with the full Microsoft Office suite.
Additional Requirements

The position requires occasional evening and weekend work and domestic travel, approximately 3 to 5 trips per year, including NARPM®'s convention and major events.
