Job summary

American Electric Power in New Albany, OH seeks a seasoned Project Director to lead large, complex transmission initiatives with budgets up to $10B. You will be accountable for safety, schedule, cost, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder alignment, directing cross-functional teams and contractors to successful delivery.

You will report on strategy, negotiate contracting, and drive executive decisions while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Ten (10) years of qualified experience across major construction, project management, portfolio management, commissioning, project controls, contracting and negotiations.
• Progressive levels of responsibility, strong business acumen and leadership skills.
• PMP certification required.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Flexibility to travel up to 50% (with potential extended travel).

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee project management functions for large transmission projects.
• Implement and supervise project safety programs to achieve Zero Harm.
• Report project strategy, staffing needs, and budget to executive leadership.
• Establish contracting strategy and negotiate EPC and engineering agreements.
• Lead governance with JV partners and coordinate across workstreams.
• Maintain integrated schedule and manage budget and contingency.
• Identify risks, develop mitigation, and manage changes.
• Mentor and develop the project leadership team and manage stakeholder relations.
• Prepare for regulatory filings and interface with utilities, regulators, and landowners.
