Job summary

Joliet Public Library seeks an Executive Director to provide strategic leadership for two locations serving 150,000+ residents. You will work with the Board on governance, develop and implement long-range plans, oversee collections, programs, and services, and ensure responsible financial management and staff development.

The role emphasizes building partnerships, advancing technology and outreach, and sustaining a culture of service excellence in a dynamic Joliet community.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited college or university.
• Five years of progressively responsible public library experience including at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience in budget development and administration; professional development for staff; knowledge of emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction; develop and implement short- and long-term plans.
• Oversee library operations, collections, programs, and services; ensure fiscal stewardship and budget oversight.
• Lead staff development; foster a positive workplace culture; strengthen partnerships and outreach.
