Job summary

Genesee Intermediate School District is seeking a Deputy Superintendent for Human Resources and Operations to provide executive leadership over HR, labor relations, legal compliance, facilities, capital planning, operations, and transportation.

The role advises the Superintendent, leads collective bargaining with two major employee groups, ensures civil rights and accessibility compliance, and serves as the district’s lead administrator in the Superintendent’s absence.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, HR, management or related field.
• Graduate coursework or expertise in school law, labor relations, human resources, or business management.
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate and compliance with MDE administrator continuing education requirements.
• Minimum of five years of central-office administrative leadership experience in an educational setting, including personnel management, labor relations, collective bargaining, contract administration, and employee benefits.
• Experience advising executive leaders, managing complex and confidential matters, and hiring, supervising, and evaluating professional, administrative, or operational employees.
• Provides executive leadership and counsel to the Superintendent and serves as the district’s lead administrator in the Superintendent’s absence.
• Oversees human resources, labor relations, collective bargaining, employee relations, and complex personnel matters.
• Provides leadership and oversight for legal and regulatory compliance, including designated civil rights and accessibility responsibilities.
• Provides executive oversight of facilities, capital planning, operations, safety and security, and transportation services.
• Oversees assigned budgets, contracts, operational initiatives, and collaborative relationships with local districts, agencies, labor representatives, and community partners.
