Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking a Director of Engineering and Plant Operations to lead the Hospital Engineering, Maintenance and Grounds teams and serve as Safety Officer. The role ensures compliance with TJC, CMS, EPA, OSHA and state/local codes while directing capital projects and budget management.

Responsibilities include overseeing repairs, infrastructure projects, energy management and vendor coordination, with a focus on safe, efficient operations across hospital buildings.

Qualifications

• 5 years hospital engineering management experience with project oversight.
• Thorough knowledge of NFPA, Joint Commission and CMS standards.
• Proficient with CMMS and Building Management Systems.
• Experience across HVAC, electrical, plumbing and related trades.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs operations of Engineering, Maintenance and Grounds.
• Acts as Safety Officer and ensures regulatory compliance across agencies.
• Manages design, construction and infrastructure projects per policy.
• Oversees energy management and utility tracking for efficiency.
• Budgets operating and capital expenditures; may supervise related departments.
• Leads staff and contractors to ensure safe hospital building operations.
