Job summary

Universal Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Director of Plant Operations at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. This senior leadership role directs facilities management, safety programs, and energy initiatives to ensure safe, efficient hospital operations.

You will oversee staff and contractors, manage operating and capital budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance with TJC, CMS, EPA, OSHA and local codes, while championing service excellence for patients and employees.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required plus degree or certification in a technical trade or facility-related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of hospital engineering management experience required.
• Knowledge of NFPA codes, TJC and CMS standards, EPA, OSHA, and state/local regulations.
• Comprehensive experience across building trades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Previous project management experience required.
• Ability to obtain Secure and TEAM Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training within 6 months of hire.
• DOT HAZMAT training required within 90 days of employment and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• The Director of Plant Operations plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and controls the operations of the Plant Operations and Facilities Management departments.
• Directs the Hospital Safety Officer role, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manage staff and contractors to ensure safe and efficient operation of hospital buildings.
• Oversee repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities; support energy management initiatives.
• Develop operating and capital budgets; oversee Safety and Emergency Management Program.
