Job summary

Savannah Technical College seeks an Executive Director of Strategic Workforce Initiatives to lead high-priority workforce programs and partnerships. The role reports to the Vice President for Economic Development and oversees the VECTR Center, military outreach, SkillBridge, apprenticeships, the FAME program, and the Applied AI and Digital Infrastructure Center.

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the Applied AI and Digital Infrastructure Center in collaboration with stakeholders.

Job Description: Position: Executive Director of Strategic Workforce Initiatives Savannah Technical College (STC) is seeking an Executive Director of Strategic Workforce Initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President for Economic Development, this position leads high-priority workforce initiatives aligned with regional industry needs. The Executive Director oversees the College’s VECTR Center and military outreach, SkillBridge, apprenticeships, FAME program, and development of the Applied AI and Digital Infrastructure Center.

Typical Duties
  • Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic workforce initiatives.
  • Oversees the VECTR Center, military outreach, and workforce programs serving active-duty and transitioning service members, veterans, military spouses, and military-connected families.
  • Oversees the College’s SkillBridge program and military-to-career partnerships with installations, employers, and College departments.
  • Leads the College’s apprenticeship strategy and supervises the Apprenticeship Coordinator.
  • Oversees implementation and operations of the College’s FAME program, coordinating with employers, Academic Affairs, and industry partners to support recruitment, program delivery, work-based learning, and employer engagement.
  • Leads development and implementation of the Applied AI and Digital Infrastructure Center, coordinating with Academic Affairs, employers, and other partners.
  • Identifies emerging workforce needs and develops training, partnerships, and workforce solutions in response.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with employers, economic development organizations, workforce agencies, military installations, industry associations, and community partners.
  • Works with Academic Affairs to connect employer needs with credit, non-credit, short-term training, industry credentials, and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Identifies and pursues grants, contracts, sponsorships, and other funding to support strategic workforce initiatives.
  • Establishes goals and monitors performance, including participation, completion, credentials, employment outcomes, employer engagement, and program growth.
  • Supervises assigned personnel and ensures effective implementation and operation of assigned programs.
  • Advises the Vice President for Economic Development on strategic workforce opportunities and represents the division on assigned initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, education, workforce development, economic development, public administration, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in workforce development, economic development, business and industry training, military outreach, higher education, employer engagement, or a related field.
  • Experience developing or managing workforce programs, employer partnerships, or strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and work effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree *and* Five (5) years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Experience in technical or community college workforce development or economic development.
  • Experience with military workforce programs, SkillBridge, apprenticeships, FAME, work-based learning, or industry credential programs.
  • Experience developing workforce initiatives in emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, or information technology.
  • Experience securing or administering grants, contracts, sponsorships, or external funding.
  • Supervisory or significant program leadership experience.
Physical Demands
  • The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight, must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings.
  • Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.

Position contingent upon funding and allocation of position.
