Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience.
  • Non-profit leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, financial management, and fundraising skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for the mission of the food shelf and a commitment to serving the community.
  • Strong competence with computer systems and software including Excel, Word, accounting and database software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership to the organization. Oversee HCFS policies, procedures and operations, recommending and implementing improvements as needed. Ensure efficient and effective delivery service.
  • Supervise and support staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure the food shelf is stocked with adequate supplies and that food distribution is managed effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the mission and goals.
  • Develop Board agendas, reports and updates in cooperation with Board Chairperson. Ensure Board meetings support effective governance and strategic decision-making.
  • Provide regular updates to the Board on organizational performance and key issues.
  • Facilitate the orientation and engagement of new Board members.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and implement fundraising programs, including grant writing, donor development and stewardship, and community events.
  • Oversee gift receipting and acknowledgement activities.
  • Ensure financial stability and accountability through sound financial practices.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing it to the community, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Engage Board members as appropriate to assist in making presentations to organizations they participate in.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, donors, and volunteers.
  • Advocate for the needs of the food shelf and its clients within the community.
