Faith-Based Nonprofit Food Bank

Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the organization, providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to advance the organization's mission. The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to ensure the organization fulfills its mission with excellence, integrity, compassion, and faithful stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

Mission and Leadership
  • Champion and model the organization's mission and values.
  • Foster an environment that encourages growth and compassionate outreach.
  • Represent the organization at community events, civic groups, churches, and groups.
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement the organization's strategic vision in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and expanded community impact with an emphasis on reducing food insecurity.
  • Monitor organizational performance and establish measurable goals and outcomes.
  • Ensure all programs align with the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
Board Relations
  • Serve as the primary liaison between staff and the Board of Directors.
  • Provide regular reports regarding finances, programs, fundraising, and organizational performance.
  • Assist the Board in governance, strategic planning, and policy development.
  • Support board recruitment, orientation, and engagement.
Financial Stewardship
  • Develop and oversee the annual operating budget.
  • Ensure responsible financial management, accountability, and transparency.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement sound fiscal practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, nonprofit regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
Fundraising and Resource Development
  • Lead fundraising initiatives, including major gifts, annual campaigns, grants, corporate partnerships, and church partnerships.
  • Build and cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, foundations, and community stakeholders.
  • Develop strategies to diversify revenue and ensure long-term organizational sustainability.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for the organization's mission.
Operations and Administration
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure organizational effectiveness and excellence.
  • Develop policies and procedures that support organizational growth and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate organizational systems and implement continuous improvements.
Staff Leadership
  • Recruit, develop, supervise, and evaluate staff.
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative, and mission-focused workplace culture.
  • Encourage professional development and leadership growth.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and effective communication.
Community Engagement
  • Build strategic partnerships with businesses, government agencies, churches and community organizations.
  • Serve as the organization's primary spokesperson.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of progressively responsible executive or senior leadership experience in nonprofit, or related organizations.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, and financial management.
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and servant leadership.

Preferred

  • Experience working with a nonprofit Board of Directors.
  • Grant writing and grant management experience. Capital campaign experience a plus.
  • Experience leading organizational growth and change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance, budgeting, and compliance requirements.
