Job summary

State of Colorado seeks an Executive Director for the Colorado Department of Higher Education to lead strategic planning, manage budgets, and advance the CCHE master plan. The role collaborates with policymakers, college administrators, and public/private partners to improve postsecondary access, affordability, and workforce alignment across Colorado.

Qualifications

• Executive leadership experience at the organizational level.
• Strong strategic planning and governance skills.
• Budgeting and financial management for large programs (>$50m).
• Experience developing policy and working with elected officials.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision and leadership to senior management on state-level education initiatives.
• Build relationships with higher education stakeholders and partners.
• Translate CCHE plans into actionable policy and program decisions.
• Oversee budgeting, policy development, and department priorities for Colorado’s higher education system.
• Coordinate with partner agencies to advance the master plan for higher education.
