Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking an Executive Director in Integrative Sciences to lead cardiovascular external innovation, identifying high-value collaborations and assets. You will guide cross-functional teams, shape collaboration plans, and ensure governance and accountability across internal and external partners.

Travel approximately 30% domestically and internationally; preferred location is Cambridge, MA, with remote arrangements considered on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent advanced scientific training in cardiovascular biology, cardiometabolic disease, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of drug discovery and/or early development experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with deep, hands-on expertise in cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease.
• Strong understanding of cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease biology, including the interaction between the two, with the ability to assess external opportunities against BMS Research priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate external scientific opportunities, including academic collaborations, biotech partnerships, platform technologies, and pre-IND or IND-stage assets.
• Experience shaping external collaboration plans — scientific objectives, work plans, milestones, governance structures, decision points, and success measures — and negotiating them with external partners.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to represent Cardiovascular external innovation and the broader Integrative Sciences mission to internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Strategy and Opportunity Triage: Communicate internal Cardiovascular Research priorities and align external search, evaluation, and triage activities with BMS Research principles.
• Collaboration Design and Execution: Shape opportunities into practical collaboration plans with clear objectives, work plans, milestones, governance structures, and success measures.
• Governance, Representation, and Communication: Serve on governance committees and provide regular updates to internal client and partner groups and senior management.
