Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development seeks an Executive Director of Borough Planning to lead four Borough Planning teams and advance affordable housing through robust engagement, standards, and streamlined review processes. You will coordinate across divisions, mentor directors, and drive public‑private planning initiatives across all five boroughs.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in city planning or related field; or a bachelor’s with 1 year city planning experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable for eligibility.
• City Planner civil service requirements or active civil service list may apply.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Borough Planning teams, set standards for public engagement and approvals.
• Coordinate with HPD units and other agencies on planning reviews and entitlements.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to borough directors and staff.
• Represent HPD in high‑profile public‑private planning and interagency initiatives.
